They`re at it again - ever constantly changing their weekday programming schedule over at Antenna TV.

I see they moved a few shows around today and they`re starting to give a daytime presence to the show 'Hazel' now.
Antenna TV has now moved 'McHales Navy' to 1pm weekdays followed by 'Hazel' at 2pm, 'Dennis the Menace' at 3pm, 'Leave it to Beaver' at 4pm, 'Adam-12' at 5pm, 'Dragnet' at 6pm, 'Good Times' at 7pm, 'Sanford and Son' at 8pm, 'All in the Family' at 9pm, 'Three`s Company' at 10pm, 'The Ropers' at 10:30pm, 'Too Close for Comfort at 11pm.

I like when they change things around but I sure wish they had Hogan`s Heroes on again during the day on weekdays.

RTV used to be the place to see the old retro television hit shows from the past but with their demise comes their replacement 'Antenna TV' which is being broadcast on channel 38.2.

Most mornings are filled with classic movies and their daytime and evening programming brings back some great memories.

'Antenna TV' has brought back many of the shows which RTV used to have like 'Leave it To Beaver' , 'McHales Navy' , 'Dragnet' , 'Adam 12', 'Bachelor Father' , 'Alfred Hitchcock' and have added many others like 'Three`s Company' , 'Maude' , 'Dennis The Menace' and 'The Ropers' .

It sure is nice to see these great shows have a place on TV these days and that you don`t have to pay to watch them. So long as you`re set up for receiving the new high definition signals your all set to go.

Don`t forget about WADL channel 38.1 , they still have many old shows too like 'Hogan`s Heroes' , 'Green Acres' , 'Bewitched' , 'The Jeffersons' , , 'Curbe Your Enthusiasm' , 'Roseanne' , 'South Park' and 'Frasier and a couple newer shows like 'Cash Cab' and 'Judge Hatchet' too.

Let`s all thank their parent company for providing all these great old shows to us once again and there are other channels in this area where you can find older shows too.

Try tuning in to Channel 18.3 in the evening and late at night. You can find shows like 'The Beverly Hillbillies' , ' The Cisco Kid' , 'Sergeant Preston of the Yukon' , 'My Little Margie' and 'Bonanza'.

Channels 20.1 and 50.1 are pretty good in their own right too.

One more thing - CBC has got their NHL hockey games back on Saturday nights again this year after a long , long summer. Yeah !!

I wanted to get this out sooner but I`ve been really swamped lately however here it is.
There are a couple of changes to the Detroit areas antenna TV lineup that you should know about.

Change #1- 'The Cool TV' channel is now being broadcast on WXON`s channel 20.2 (WMYD).

On WXON antenna tv channel 20.2 named ' The Cool TV ' has just come out with a 24 hour a day music video channel. Their advertizing says ' TheCoolTV plays music, period'. I`ve not had much chance to watch it but it looks like they play a variety of different types.

Researching 'The Cool TV' I`ve found some cool stuff they will be featuring, I`ll run through the featured programming they will be offering for you.

Schedules of Featured Programs

- Monday through Fridays at 8PM each night they have a show called '80`s at 8'. This program features videos from back in the beginning of TV videos in the 80`s and The Cool TV`s own wacky promos that they advertize will be a great hour of fun, laughs and good times for the whole family!

- Mondays at 7PM are for the real classic videos from the 60`s and 70`s . Go back in time and get out the bell bottoms because they should have some pretty cool old stuff on this show.

- Tuesday at 7PM they have 'Nineties Nectar' giving us tons of Grunge, Indie and Rock. Look for some big names and one hit wonders from the 90`s.

Right after 'Nineties Nectar' on Tuesdays at 8PM there`s a show named 'The Underground" where they`re advertizing that you`ll be able to hear new emerging artists with an eclectic mix of Classic Punk music throw in. It sounds like we may find a few future stars on this show.

- Wednesdays at 5PM they have their Pop music hour named 'Pop Power' featuring the most text requested videos from the top Pop stars and the biggest sellers on the market at this moment.

- At 10PM Wednesdays you will see a show named 'The Block' , it contains the best' Urban' and 'Hip-Hop artists' videos . Featured in this program are many different artists such as Eminem, Lil Wayne, Lil Kim, Twista, 50 Cent, Kayne West, Snoop Dog, Jay-Z, DMX, Sean Paul, Ja Rule.

- At 9PM Thursday night each week their feature program 'From the Road' will carry live concert footage, rarely seen interviews and behind the scenes backstage antics from great concert DVDs taken from THECOOLTV's video vault and this sound like it could be good.

- At 10PM Thursdays they have a show called 'Big Heavy Rock Hour' containing powerful mix of Hard Rock and Metal Live and Conceptual Performances from the greatest hard rockers in history! Featured artists in this program include stars such as 'Nickelback, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Black Sabbath, Tool, Soundgarden, Metallica, Jimi Hendrix, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Ozzy Osborne, Korn, Avenge Sevenfold, Led Zeppelin, Guns and Roses, Judas Priest, Nirvana, Slayer, Scorpions, Motorhead, Rush and Nine Inch Nails'.

- Friday and Saturdays at 10PM till Midniight they have the Disco lovers dance music show named ' Dance and Tonic'. It will be filled with some Old School Classics and the very latest Techno and Smash Dance Videos from around the world! They advertize that it`s good reason to get everyone together and start dancing.

- Sundays at 10AM they have 'Over Easy' - Mellow Morning tunes. As the title indicates they will be playing some mellow tunes and they advertize that you`ll see smooth performances from a wide variety of international Pop, Soul
and Jazz artists.

This could be a good fit in this time period because there`s not too much on on Sunday mornings and it will give me something to put on while I clean my house.

And a couple more things to know:

1- that when they say 'we play music , period.' - they mean in between commercials but I guess they need to make money too.

2- To make requests contact them a using Twitter,Facebook, phone calls, emails or hand written letters - they compile the requests and play the most requested songs.

Personally I think this channel sounds a little cool and worth looking in to, I just hope they don`t end up playing country after everybody`s requests are figured in and I can`t wait until Thursdays at 8PM for their 'From the Road' show. I`ll be checking this out weekly.


Change #2- A NEW Channel is being put together for WADL`s 38.2 channel named 'Antenna TV' . It promises to be a good fit in this area because of the demise of RTV last month. Seeing that we will have some good old shows for free is a godsend for us who love the old classics tv and movies.

Not much is said about the programming but they`re advertizing shows such as : The Flying Nun, The Monkees, The Partridge Family, All In The Family, Maude and Soap. On their commercials you can see they will be playing other shows such as: Gidget, 3`s Company and Married with Children too and it looks like Good Times is moving over from 38.1 .

They will also be playing classic retro movies too. Are you ready?

This is just an update post on what`s happening on channel 7.2 Detroit, Michigan.

Is RTV Changing?

I can`t find too much information on this subject but all things point towards a 'yes' answer.

As the song says all things must change , so from the rumors I`m hearing - Detroit`s RTV channel broadcast on channel 7.2 will be changing August 01/ 2011 to a new and totally different type of program offering.

No more classic old shows, now we`ll be getting a type of cooking, home , travel and advice.

RTV will be gone and the replacement will be named 'The Live Well Network'.
I`m not at all happy to see RTV go away, that`s for sure.
I love the old `60`s sitcoms.

The new CBS broadcasting schedule which starts in September 2011 has a lot of the older popular shows coming back for another season and a couple new shows sprinkled in for some variety. CBS is hoping that these new shows become popular hits which would of course raise their revenues through higher priced advertising.

This show is a comedy about 2 large overweight people having a relationship. 10pm - The new 'Hawaii Five-0' returns again for it`s 2nd exiting season as well. This show follows the make believe crime fighting unit of Steve McGarrett and the Hawaii Five-0 team. The original theme song released in the 1970`s reached # 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 pop chart at that time. Starring: Alex O'Loughlin, Scott Caan, Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park.

9pm - Another new show named 'Person of Interest' makes its debut. It`s about a billionaire who has develloped a computer program that predicts future crimes. The billionaire hires an ex-CIA agent who`s pressumed to be dead to help prevent these crimes. Starring Michael Emerson, Jim Caviezel and Taraji P. Henson.
10pm - Another highly popular show 'The Mentalist' returns for its 4th season. It`s a fictional story about a man (Starring: Patrick Jane) who is paid to help the CBI(California Bureau of Investigations) solve murders using unorthodox methods.

8:00pm - Another new show ' A Gifted Man' is making its debut. It`s a drama about a brilliant and charismatic surgeon deceased ex-wife is contacting him to teach him the meaning of life from a point of view in the 'hereafter' Starring: Michael Holt and Jennifer Ehle.

Change is inevitable and when you`re talking about TV programming things change with the seasons.

The Retro Television Network'RTN' just doled out their newest changes and depending on your point of view may be for the better or maybe the worse.

I really like this channel (RTN) but when they shake the programming schedule up I go a little crazy trying to figure out their new schedule because I have trouble finding it anywhere.
This Blog is to help you figure out what`s on in the Detroit Market (RTN - channel 7.2) after the newest programming change because no one has published the new schedule so far. I e-mailed them and asked them to update their schedule on their website , it may be done soon but I never count on it for another couple of weeks after any change.

New Schedule and the shows they replaced as accurately done as possible, things may changer but for now this is it.

I hope this helps you.


Between 2am and 6 am they just have paid programming (commercials or so called infomercials).

At 6am and 6:30am they start their lineup with 2 episodes of 'The Cisco Kid' back to back replacing 'Daniel Boone' who moves to 6pm and 7pm.
At 7am they now have 'Route 66' (1960-1964) starring Martin Milner and George Maharis.
At 8am and 8:30am their old schedule had young childrens programming and for any changes at this time slot I don`t see any.- I don`t follow them but shows such as 'Mustard Pancakes','Aqua Kids Adventures', 'In The Zone', 'Angels Friends', 'Wild America' and a couple of other similar shows share these 2 time slots.
At 9am and 9:30am-Replaced at this time slot by 'Daytime', 'The Rifleman' has been moved to 11:30am and 'The Cisco Kid' has moved to 6:30am.
At 10am 'Kojak' has been replaced by 'Lorianne Cooke`s Celebrity Kitchen'.
At 11am 'Kate and Allie' has been replaced by 'The Rifleman' which has moved from its 9am time slot.
At 11:30am I lost an even bigger favorite of mine 'McHale`s Navy' and it`s being replaced by another episode of 'The Rifleman' also.
At 12pm They had a long run of 'Bachelor Father' and now they have 'Robin Hood' to start their afternoon schedule.
At 12:30 'McHale`s Navy' has been replaced again in favor of 'Peter Gunn'(1958-1961).
At 1pm 'The Bold Ones' gets booted for 'The Bill Cosby Show' (1969-1971) and,
At 1:30pm the second half of 'The Bold Ones' is replaced by 'Zorro'(1957-1959)
At 2pm 'Quincy'gets pushed aside for 'Movin On'(1974-1976) starring Claude Akins as an independent big rig driver who meets interesting people driving from place to place.
At 3pm 'Emergency' steps aside for 'Naked City' (1958-1963) a police crime drama set in New York City.
At 4pm 'I Spy' moves to 5pm and this spot gets filled by another episode of 'Route 66'.
At 5pm 'Robin Hood' has been moved to 12 noon in place of the first half of 'I Spy' another show co-starring Bill Cosby and Robert Culp.
At 5:30pm 'Peter Gunn' has moved to make room for the second half of 'I Spy'.
At 6pm 'Adam 12' gets booted for the first half of 'Daniel Boone'.
At 6:30pm 'Dragnet'is put on the sidelines for the second half of 'Daniel Boone'.
At 7pm 'The Hulk' is being replaced by a second episode of 'Daniel Boone'.
At 8pm Their new schedule has included is an old favorite of mine 'Starsky and Hutch' which has now replaced 'Knight Rider'.
At 9pm 'Route 66' has replaced 'Simon and Simon' , a show that had a very long run on this channel.
At 10pm 'The Rockford Files' has been replaced by 'The Saint'(1962-1969) starring Roger Moore prior to his playing the role of James...James Bond 007.
At 11pm 'The Alfred Hitchcock Hour' has been replaced by a Vancouver cop who turns coroner in 'Da`vinci`s Inquest'(1998-2005)
At 12am 'Suspense Theatre' has been ousted in favor of 'Cold Case Files'(1999-present).
At 1am 'Cold Squad'(1998-2005) has replaced 'That`s Incredible' , 'Alfred Hitchcock Presents' and 'Night Gallery'. 'Cold Squad' is a Canadian police series that focuses on the procedures used to solve crimes.

UPDATE:
The weekend schedule is a little tougher to figure out because it only happens once a week and they haven`t broadcast their new programs yet, so good luck.

Question - What do you think of the new programming schedule at RTN, good or bad?

I want to start this post by saying that I love to watch TV and some videos. I love getting my computer to get TV also. I`ve found a few different ways to get TV viewing through my computer in order to supplement my channel line up I receive free over the digital airwaves and to have two streams working at all times .
Setups for all these ways are easy but you must always use the proper hardware and/or software for any digital tv setup.

1st way - Set up Your Computer to Receive Digitally Transmitted Broadcasts

Find yourself a good HDTV card at any computer accessories retailer and set up your computer to receive the high definition digital broadcasts of the major television networks in your area. These cards run between $40 to $90 and they are able to convert analog and digital antennae signals.

All you have to do is purchase the best one you can find and install it in to your pc. To install this hardware they make it pretty easy ( just make sure your pc has the specs to handle it and an open slot to put it in). They usually come with accompanying software that`s easily installed by just following the on screen instructions. Make sure your pc has the specifications to handle these cards and if not you may need to upgrade, but most people nowadays are using technology that`s advanced enough.

These cards come with an input for your co-ax antennae so it makes it easy to hook up. This way will get you any high def or analog signal in your area and if you hook it up to your rooftop antennae you`ll be able to receive many more channels from further distances. Using a rotor to aim your antennae towards the stations transmitter in any direction will also helps you to find more channels to watch too.

I split my antennae feeds and send one feed to my television and the other one to my computer. With the new HDTV`s there is no way to record anything on television to a dvd or cassette recorder because there are no outputs present on the newer model HDTV`s. Most of these cards also have a dvr system so when I want to record something I use my computer tv setup to record the show I want to record. You can also easily program it to record any show being broadcast at any time and date you need it to.

2nd way - TV Toolbars are a Great Way To Get Free TV on Your Computer

Many companies and individual webmasters are providing free toolbars for everyones benefit that offer many different application built right in these days. These programs run between $30 to $50 for a lifetime subscription and have no recurring fees. A lifetime access to thousands of different channels and are easily installed on any windows based computer system `95 or later.

They come with a tv guide to help you find what`s on now or at a later time and some of the better programs will have automatic updates for removing dead links and for always keeping your program list updated.

Free software comes included with some of these programs - some have free dvr`s and other free software so you can watch tv on your mobile phone -- all programs offer different things as a bonus to help entice you to pick their offering over a competitor so be sure to check these free offerings before you make any purchase.This is also a very easy way to get channels that are being broadcasted from all around the world and the amount of channels they offer makes just about everyone of these programs worth the price they charge.

All the major network channels from the USA and all around the world are present in these programs. The picture quality is relative to 2 different things.

1- Your internet connection speed - A high speed connection is recommended but not necessary , many lower bandwidth channels are available for slower connection speeds.

2- The better streaming technology that some of these programs offer- some of these programs have a better streaming technology working inside their program which will give you a much cleaner picture that`s easier on the eyes than other competing programs.

Combine These Avenues and Increase Your Channel Line Up

Use these different avenues and get more tv viewing through your pc and stop paying high cable and satellite bills each and every month. After a little time you`ll start to understand like I did that TV should be free . The way I see it -- you should only have to pay to set up your antennae or your system and after that tv should be free.
When your signal from your antennae isn`t working because of storms in your area you`ll be happy you have a backup when you can turn on a TV for PC toolbar or program. They will keep your informed and entertained without having to pay too much.
